Philips discovered system:inmation while engaging in a vendor selection process for full integration of all their manufacturing equipment for shaver head production at the Drachten site in the north of the Netherlands. The manufacturing process spans across 2000 machines of diverse age and technology that have been introduced to the shop floor over decades. The most challenging aspect is that each separate machine step produces a large amount of data and Philips requires the ability to pull the full data set for each individually produced component instead of data sampling at lower frequency. The new type of in-and-out of process analytics of high volume discrete manufacturing data (involving sub-second and even sub-millisecond sensor data) requires a solution that contains a historian of the highest performance and throughput. Philips has been a founding Product Advisory Board member since December 2016.
